Save Money With Homemade Treats for your Cat!

We’ve already learned how to save money by making homemade treats for our furry doggie friends. But now it’s time to learn how we can save money making homemade treats for our four legged kitty friends as well. ¬†Here are a few tried, tested and kitty approved recipes for you to try as well.

Your kitty will love these yummy homemade treats!

Cat Crackers

Your little furry friend will simply love these tuna flavored crackers!

  • 6 oz of tuna (undrained)
  • 1 cup or 240 mL of Flour
  • 1 cup or 240 mL of cornmeal
  • 1 /3 cup or 80 mL of water

Instructions

First preheat your oven to at least 350 degrees. Put all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix through thoroughly. It may be best to use your hands to mix everything up. Roll out to desired thickness but it’s suggested no bigger than 1/4 of an inch ( 6mm ) Now cut or use cookie cutters to shape into the shape you would like. Place onto a cookie sheet that is greased and bake for around 20 minutes or until the crackers look golden brown. ¬†Feed to your cat!

Cat Pancakes

These are not your typical ‘pancakes’ but they are delicious to your kitty!

  • 4 oz of ground sirloin
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon or 15 mL of catnip
  • 3 tablespoons or 45 mL of oatmeal

Instructions

First you will want to mix all your ingredients together and knead the dough to form a round ball. Place the ball onto a cookie sheet, and flatten it. Broil for about 8 minutes on 425 degrees. Let the pancake cool for roughly 30 minutes, and cut into pieces for your kitty to enjoy!

Tuna Balls

You will be the talk of kitty town with these fabulous treats!

  • 1 Can of drained tuna
  • 2/3 cup or 160 mL dry cat food
  • 1/2 cup or 120 mL of chicken or turkey cut up
  • veggies sliced (optional)

Instructions

Mix up all of the ingredients into a bowl until completely mixed. Form into small balls and allow to chill for about 1 hour. Cover the balls in bread crumbs and serve!
